'Mr. Decision' Chance Mickelson released a video on Youtube this week in which he let viewers in on his daily training regime with candid interviews spliced in as well. Mr. Decision 16-12 (1-1 FFL), nicknamed because all of his career wins are by decision (as are a majority of his losses). The video highlights Mickelson sitting on the couch playing an MMA video game eating cheetos, watching a beginner's BJJ class, and taking his dogs for a walk.
Chance had this to say during his video. "I'm gonna do better this time. I showed up to FFL overweight, so they bumped me up a weight class. So I threw up for a couple of weeks to drop the poundage I needed to get to featherweight."
On his upcoming fight. "You know, I created him as a character on the MMA game, I pretty much know his fighting style and what I need to do to win."
On his nickname. "Well, I do what I need to win. I understand the rules, and the scoring system, and I tailor my game to maximize my potential points each round. You don't have to hit them hard, you just have to hit them and not get hit. It's what I do best."
On his attitude. "People think I don't take this sport seriously. But I do. I train like twice a week or so. That's a big commitment for me. I could spend the time going out drinking or playing video games. I also have this game night with some buddies. We play Magick: The Throwing card game all the time."
While Mickelson is not the most exciting fighter in the world, his calm both in and out the ring have served him well in his career, and he hopes to continue the trend against Zachary Johnson.
